GORDON CLEVELAND WEATHERALL was born in Boomi NSW on the 27 March 1898: the fourth child  to Charles (William) Weatherall (1845-1914) and Sarah Murphy (c1873-1941)— also known as Sarah Whitson, Wilson and Witton. There is contention about how many children were in the family however records show that there were at least 10. Frances Edward (Ned), Herbert, Ida, 2 x Franks—one died as a child and they named another son after him— Gordon, Henry Douglas, Bertie, Amy Ivy and Edith May.  It is said there was a Michael who was one of the eldest however there seems to be no proof of this. He also had a half brother Patrick Thomas after the death of his father, Sarah gave birth to a son that same year. Gordon's father  was born in Lopen, Somerset, England while his mother was an Aboriginal woman (believed to be a Goomeroi woman) born in Whalan NSW.

Gordon and Gladys were married in 1920 in Collarenebri NSW and lived on Pooloomoodool station Dirranbandi among other properties.  They raised 14 children Rita (Rose), Sarah (West), Amy (Rose), Una (Crawley), William (Bill) Twins -Violet (Jean) & Arthur (Doug), Francis (Aubrey), Alfred, Joyce (Smith), Mervyn (Joe), Kevin, Clifford & Yvonne (Bailey). The properties Gordon worked on were owned by the Australian Pastoral Company (APC) and when the  lease of Noondoo which (and other properties) finalized, the properties were sold off and Gordon and his family moved to Currawong Station Mungindi. Records suggest that Gordon had applied for his ‘Certificate of Exemption’ (from the Aborigines Protection Act) in his 30's however it was at age 54 (1953) when he was residing at Currawong Station that he actually received exemption. His references stated that he had been with the same employer since 1923 (30 years) as a station hand and boundary rider.   Gordon died  on 20 January 1963, in Noondoo, Queensland, Australia and is resting in the Dirranbandi Cemetery. Gladys joined him and rests beside him since 1972.

None of Gordon’s parents or siblings are buried in Dirranbandi Cemetery. His father is in Toowoomba and his mother is in Walgett NSW.
